Concept
“Pink Fantasia” is an abstract creature developed through imagination rather than realism. The focus was on capturing character and personality through form—soft, flowing, and slightly surreal.
The creature embodies:
Fluid, organic movement

Playful yet ambiguous identity
A balance between softness and structural presence
Process
1. Sketch Exploration
Began with freehand sketches to define the creature’s gesture and flow
Focused on silhouette and movement rather than details
Identified key elements: curved spine, protruding head form, and layered bod

2. Clay Model Development
Created a rough clay prototype to understand volume and proportion
Explored how forms transition in 3D space
Adjusted balance and weight distribution for stability

3. Material Translation – Sipo Rex Block
Translated the clay model into a Sipo Rex block
Marked guidelines directly on the surface based on sketch

4. Carving Process
Used carving tools including:
Flat chisels
Round and semi-circular tools
Filing tools for refinement
Gradually removed material to reveal the form
Focused on maintaining smooth transitions and continuous flow

Material & Technique
Material: Sipo Rex (lightweight, porous, easy-to-carve block)
Techniques: Subtractive carving, shaping, filing, surface refinement

Form & Characteristics

Abstract, non-literal creature
Emphasis on:
Curved surfaces
Soft edges
Rhythmic flow of volumes
Textured surface enhances tactile quality and material identity
